As for the general journal being presented in the ”ordered by account” and ”ordered by date”: these are both in the ”General Journal ¿ Search” menu.
Once you run the report, you can sort the lines by date (journal) or by account (which I believe is sorted by date within the account). My accountant either lists ”all transactions for one specific account” or ”all transactions for 202x; all accounts” so usually, sorting by date isn’t much of an issue.
I believe that in the ”General Journal ¿ Search” search options, you may need to check the ”Account” indicator to add the account to the output. This comes in handy when you decide not to filter for a specific account.
